limes
LIMES
No, we’re not talking about a small, green citrus fruit today. The limes is an old border which stretches across the Netherlands, along the Rhine. About 2000 years ago, the Romans were incapable of crossing the Dutch Rhine, which led to the reach of the Roman Empire ending by the river. Well, that’s how it went in The Netherlands anyway. The limes is thousands of kilometres long in total. It also meanders through northern England, parts of the Sahara, and the Red Sea. The green nature is the basis of the limes.
